As we inch ever closer to the new year I'm checking in with the ladies who made this first year of features a success. Here's what Erin Lundmark had to say when I asked her for an update...
So, update. What's happened since we last checked in with you? Any new developments on the beer horizon?
Well, Jekyll Brewing opened in August. We've been very successful and well received. I'm doing all the sales, marketing, and special events. It's a full load, but it's a labor of love. As for new developments, we're finally at the point of being able to play around and make some fun stuff. Most of them will only be in the tap room for a bit, but we'll see what happens with them. We've got a Smoked Porter pouring right now, and a Foreign Export Stout that each of the brewers has taken a 1/6 barrel of and played with.
Part of the reason Michael and I wanted to open the brewery was to give us a greater platform to give back. We've been so blessed, and we love sharing that with others. We've partnered with an awesome charity, Radiation Vacation, that supports families in GA with kids going through cancer treatments. We've been donating a portion of sales of Big Creek Kolsch, and bottles of Southern Session. And we also got together with Yelp OTP and held a fundraisers at the brewery to benefit them. At the end of the night we had over $1000 to give. We were missing the giant check though.

New brew loves? (Favorite pubs, brews, experiences, etc.) One of the fun parts of my job is discovering new places for me to drink! I love hanging out at Cypress Street, and the cellar at The Porter is amazing. I get to meet great people in this industry and talk beer with them all day. What could be better? It's always a fun experience when I go in to an establishment with samples of our beer and explain that we're a new brewery, etc... People generally don't expect much, but I love seeing their faces when they try the beer. It's good stuff! New brews for me... I've never been much of an IPA girl, but I've learned to love them and they seem to be a go to for me now.
Future goals/plans/dreams either beer-related or not...This is a tough one... Raise well adjusted, empathetic children, grow in my church, lose 20 lbs, ...etc, the sky's the limit for Jekyll Brewing and I can't wait to see where it goes!
If you could have one beer with anywhere and with anyone you like (past or present) who/where would you raise your glass and why?Right now, that would be Michael, my husband, we're both so busy lately that we never get to see each other and I'd love to sit down and have a beer with him. Cheesy, right?!
